Good Morning,

This is Andrea Williams from the LCSD Central Services Office. I'm attaching two flyers about an upcoming job fair for high school students and recent graduates with this e-mail. The job fair will be held Thursday, June 6th from 9 AM - 4 PM at the Tommy Dulaney Center on MCC's campus.

The employers involved will look to employ students for summer jobs, part-time positions, or full-time slots. Mississippi Power Company is helping to sponsor the job fair, and Ingalls Shipbuilding out of Pascagoula is one of the companies that will participate.

There is contact information listed at the bottom of each flyer. You can also contact me with any questions.

Thank you in advance,

Re:      2018-2019 MCA High School Essay Contest

The Mississippi Concrete High School Essay Contest was designed to better educate high school students about the concrete industry and its benefits to society. The top three winners of the essay contest will be awarded a scholarship to the college of their choice: 1st place - $500, 2nd place - $300, and 3rd place - $200.

The contest rules are as follows:

Open to Mississippi high school students between the ages 16-18 at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

Essay Prompt: How Can Concrete Be Used to Benefit Mississippians Across the State?

Entry must be typed, double-spaced and must not exceed 600 words.

Entry form must be included with the submitted essay and be postmarked no later than Friday, May 31, 2019.

The entries will be judged on content and writing ability (grammar, style, clarity, creativity). The essay should also demonstrate a student's awareness of concrete's role as a building material in homes, commercial buildings, streets and highways. The essays will be judged by an impartial committee of industry executives. All entries become property of MCA and we reserve the right to publish entries in whole or part.

Students may submit entry online at https://www.mississippiconcrete.com/essay/ or use the attached entry form.  For additional information, contact the MCA office at 601-957-5274.

Dear Counselor,

My name is Eric Bennett, and I am a Deputy Director for the 2019 Mississippi American Legion Boys State program being held at the University of Mississippi from May 26 - June 1. We have previously sent out an email to the high schools in the state, and I wanted to follow up with some flyers for your school to use in advertising the program and recruiting any juniors that you feel might be interested in registering for our program.

As you know, the Boys State program is open to rising high school seniors, following the conclusion of their junior year, to spend a week learning about the functions of government while creating their own mock government. The program also includes various sports, a mock trial program, a broadcast and print media program, and similar opportunities. Finally, due to the generosity of the Mississippi American Legion and the universities in our state, our program is able to offer various scholarships to students who participate in our program.

This information and more is included in the attached flyers. If you have any questions, including about scholarship information, contacting your local American Legion post about sponsorship, or any other questions, please feel free to visit our website at msboysstate.com or contact myself at this email, or the Director, Hunter Pace, at hunter@msboysstate.com.

Thank you,

Eric Bennett
Deputy Director
American Legion Boys State
Department of Mississippi
