Your student's artwork could be worth up to $529.That crayon drawing or pencil sketch hanging on your refrigerator could earn your student a college scholarship.The 5th Annual College Savings Mississippi Art Contest is now accepting entries. The contest encourages Mississippi students to express their creativity, share their most ambitious dreams and goals, and save for college.Mississippi students in grades Pre-K through 12th are invited to submit an original piece of art answering the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"Twelve winning artists will receive a MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) scholarship to help pay for their college educations.Professional artists and representatives from College Savings Mississippi will choose three winners in each of four age groups:
- Pre-K – 2nd Grade
- 3rd – 5th Grade
- 6th – 8th Grade
- 9th – 12th Grade

JUNIOR AND SENIOR CHECKLISTRemind your junior or senior student to take the following steps to get ready for college:√ Sign up for the ACT/SAT.√ Reach out to community college or university recruiters and admissions personnel and let them know you're interested in their schools. You can find their names and contact information on the colleges' websites.√ Schedule a campus visit or take a virtual tour.√ Interested in a particular field? Ask if you can spend a day shadowing someone already working in that area.√ Obtain letters of recommendation for scholarships and admission applications from teachers, employers, leaders of organizations where you've volunteered, and others who know you well. Make their job easier by providing them with a list of points you'd like for them to mention.√ Complete your FAFSA (fafsa.gov) and application for Mississippi student aid any time after October 1st of your senior year.√ Apply for college admission.
