Sallie Mae and Thurgood Marshall College Fund Launch $3M Scholarship Program to Support Disadvantaged Students

What You Need to Know:

Nearly 900 students, including high school seniors will receive scholarships through the scholarship program over the next three years.

Who is eligible:

The Bridging the Dream Scholarship for High School Seniors: In 2021, The Sallie Mae Fund will award (25) $10,000 scholarships to high
school seniors who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year degree professional certificate, or vocational training program. Seniors who excel
inside and outside of the classroom and demonstrate financial need can apply now through March 8 at www.salliemae.com/landing/bridging-the-dream

What is different:

Counselors no longer will need to nominate students making it even easier to share this information with all students.  You can share the link above and

ask your students to submit their application for the scholarship.

What other scholarships are offered:

  • The Completing the Dream Scholarship: In 2021, The Sallie Mae Fund will award (260) gap scholarships worth up to $2,500 to minority students
and those from underserved communities who are on track to graduate but are at-risk of not completing due to financial emergency or unpaid
school bill. Students can apply for the Completing the Dream Scholarship, at www.salliemae.com/landing/completing-the-dream

  • The Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students: Coming later this year, The Sallie Mae Fund will also offer (10) $10,000 scholarship to
minority students and those from disadvantaged communities who are pursuing a graduate degree

I've attached a flyer about the programs that can be shared with students, parents, or others who may benefit from this information. Please let me know
if you have any questions.

For official scholarship rules, visit salliemae.com/about/scholarship-opportunities. No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited.  Ends March 8.

If you have any questions or need any additional information on this scholarship or our scholarship search resource tool, please reach out any time.

I am happy to share links, provide materials for on campus events, or discuss further over the phone.

Take care.

Happy 2021 administrators and counselors!

As the new year begins, I hope this email finds you rested from the holiday break and energized to help your students achieve success.  I am reaching out on behalf of the American Legion's Boys State program - the premier leadership program for rising seniors (and for graduating seniors this year) in the state of Mississippi. Our program's application is now live at https://msboysstate.com/applytoday/. The included attachment contains information, instructions, and guidance for getting your top students to the 2021 session of the American Legion's Boys State program. Our staff is eager to meet and work alongside this next class of young leaders.

Most important information is that the session is open this year for both graduating and rising seniors, at the University of Mississippi from May 30th - June 5th, and the application deadline is May 7th, 2021. For more information, please read the attached packet or go to our website at https://msboysstate.com/. Feel free to reach out to us at any time with any questions or concerns.

If you are no longer serving your school as a counselor or administrator, please respond to this email so that we may update our records.
