Greetings,

My name is Rolanda Pace and I am reaching out to you on behalf of the CHAMPion Memorial Scholarship Committee. This committee was formed as an effort to develop an athletic/ academic scholarship to commemorate Coach Calvin D. Hampton. Coach Hampton, better known as "Coach Hamp", was an influential individual on and off the football field. He assisted many young men and women not only in perfecting sports, but also in enhancing their academic performance through strengthening their confidence, inspiring their determination, and challenging their efforts towards self-improvement. He was a supportive and encouraging mentor to the youth and was often viewed as an additional parent by his students. Coach Hamp remains irreplaceable and truly missed by those who knew him. He left endless memories within the community and touched many hearts within the surrounding areas. Although our hearts continue to mourn his absence, we know Coach Hamp would prefer we utilize our time in a more productive way; helping the youth.

Needless to say, it is our pleasure to present to you the Calvin D. Hampton CHAMPion Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to Senior athletes who plan to attend college (2 year, 4 year, or vocational). The amount awarded will be contingent on the amount raised during the prior year. 100% proceeds will go towards the scholarship. The first scholarship will be presented at the First Annual Father-Daughter Masquerade Ball in honor of Coach Hamp scheduled for February 5, 2022. ALL nominees are required to be in attendance.

What do we need from you? We would appreciate assistance in helping to disseminate this information to your graduating Seniors to provide them the opportunity to apply. The application deadline is December 1, 2021.

I hope you all had a great Monday! The week of October 18-22 is free application week in Alabama, but this year we're also including Mississippi in the fun! I can't let my MS folks miss this great opportunity!

 

After completing the campus application, you students will enter the discount code ALCAC2021 on the payment page. Don't forget to click apply to active the code. This discount code will completely waive the $30 application fee. I encourage all of my students to apply to any school they are interested in. Submitting an application with a waived fee will give your students the opportunity to view the great things UWA has to offer all while saving money. We both know application fees can add up quickly!

 

Also, I wanted to pass along an awesome opportunity for your students interested in Biology majors. Attached is a flyer with information on a great scholarship, internship placements and research-based learning. Please pass this along to any student you feel might be interested.
