Fwd: [ms_principals] U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Nominations

Greetings Superintendents and Principals:

The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by Executive Order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our Nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.   High school seniors who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents graduating between January 2017 and August 2017 who attend public, parochial, independent, or home-school programs are eligible for this high honor.

This year, Dr. Carey Wright, State Superintendent of Education, will nominate up to 20 students (10 males and 10 females) for the general component of the program and up to 5 students for the CTE component.

Please find attached the informational flyer and student application to share with seniors in your district/school.  You will see that this year's student application has been designed to allow student applicants to enter their responses directly into the application form.    If you have any questions regarding the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program please contact Dr. Marla Davis (mdavis@mdek12.org) or Mrs. Dana Bullard (dbullard@mdek12.org) in the Office of Secondary Education.

Thank you for sharing this information and providing the opportunity for your students to be recognized on a national level for their academic achievements.

Warm Regards,
Dr. Kim S. Benton
