Do you have a high school senior who is enrolling at The University of Southern Mississippi for the fall 2019 semester? We are offering a limited number of freshmen students the chance to join one of four communities in fall 2019. These communities – Academic Connections to Enhance Success (ACES) – give students the chance to: - Live with fellow freshmen with similar interests and backgrounds
- Take a set of three classes together with these same students
- Gain skills in time management, study skills, and other important areas
- Benefit from additional mentoring from faculty and staff
For fall 2019, we are now taking applications for these four ACES living-learning communities: - Nursing/Health Sciences: Students who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree
- Undeclared/Exploratory Studies: Students who have not declared a major
- Biology: Students planning on majoring in a field in biology
- Gen 1: Students who will be the first in their family to earn a four-year degree
Do you have any students in mind that you think would benefit from our program? Please encourage your students to visit our website to learn more and apply. Please note that they will also need to apply for housing on campus as part of this opportunity, as on-campus residency is required. The priority deadline to submit an ACES application is January 25, 2019. If you or your students have any questions, please contact the Office of New Student and Retention Programs at 601.266.6405. Sincerely, Megan McCay, Ph.D. Assistant Director for First Year Programs Office of New Student and Retention Programs |
