Re:      2018-2019 MCA High School Essay Contest

The Mississippi Concrete High School Essay Contest was designed to better educate high school students about the concrete industry and its benefits to society. The top three winners of the essay contest will be awarded a scholarship to the college of their choice: 1st place - $500, 2nd place - $300, and 3rd place - $200.

The contest rules are as follows:

Open to Mississippi high school students between the ages 16-18 at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

Essay Prompt: How Can Concrete Be Used to Benefit Mississippians Across the State?

Entry must be typed, double-spaced and must not exceed 600 words.

Entry form must be included with the submitted essay and be postmarked no later than Friday, May 31, 2019.

The entries will be judged on content and writing ability (grammar, style, clarity, creativity). The essay should also demonstrate a student's awareness of concrete's role as a building material in homes, commercial buildings, streets and highways. The essays will be judged by an impartial committee of industry executives. All entries become property of MCA and we reserve the right to publish entries in whole or part.

Students may submit entry online at https://www.mississippiconcrete.com/essay/ or use the attached entry form.  For additional information, contact the MCA office at 601-957-5274.
