Do you have any seniors planning to attend The University of Southern Mississippi? If so, I hope you'll consider encouraging them to apply for the JUMP Scholars Program, a special summer program that gives students a headstart on their college careers. This unique program is ideal for students who've worked hard in high school and are motivated, self-disciplined, and determined to do well in college.

JUMP Scholars will take 3 classes over 5 weeks at the end of the summer 2020 semester. These courses are popular first-year college classes that are required for most degrees. The courses are taught by outstanding faculty within an academic and social experience that will help JUMP Scholars transition smoothly from high school to college.

For JUMP Scholars 2020, we're taking applications for these four JUMP clusters:
  • Nursing/Health Sciences: Students who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree
  • Business: Students who are majoring in a field of business
  • Kinesiology: Students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of kinesiology
  • Career Exploration: Any student who is interested in exploring career options and major programs at Southern Miss

If you have any students in mind that you think would benefit from the JUMP Scholars Program, please encourage them to go to the NSRP website to learn more and apply. The deadline to submit a JUMP Scholars application is April 3, 2020.

If you or your students have any questions, please contact the Office of New Student and Retention Programs at 60
1.266.6405.

Sincerely,
Holly Grider
Assistant Director for First-Year Programs
